Gingerbread

The freckles

that dapple my face

my arms

are more than beauty spots,

but marks of where

the cruel sun

has kissed me

and left a

small dot.

and though

there were days

when I was still

young

that I hated the

presence of such,

today I marvel

that though it is harsh

the sun still

loves

so much.
